Greater attention is being given to training on short courses through mutual cooperation and joint activities with credible institutions with the objective to add value to members, provide relevance for the Association, thereby justifying its existence and promoting the economic development of the sub-region.

 

For instance: -In October 2009, WABA in collaboration with Downton Hill, London conducted anti-money laundering workshop.

 

In November 2009, WABA supported Afreximbank to organize a seminar and workshop on Structured Trade Finance.

 

In May 2010 WABA organised a seminar on quoting and Trading in the ECOWAS National Currencies in Freetown, Sierra Leone

 

In July 2010, WABA collaborated with ADFIMI (Association of Development Financial Institutions in Islamic Member States) to run a training on Micro Finance in Ouagadougou, Cote d’Ivoire.

 

-In November 2010, in Dakar, Senegal, WABA organized a seminar on governance and risk management for all the Banks in West Africa as part of its end of year activities.

 

-In February 2011 WABA in collaboration with Downton Hill London conducted training on Risk Management for Banks in Lagos, Nigeria

 

In May 2011 WABA in collaboration with Downton Hill, London conducted training on Risk Management for Banks in Accra, Ghana and in 2012 repeated the training in Lagos and Accra

 

In Freetown Sierra Leone between 2012 and 2014 we have held more than 20 training sessions on core areas such as from fraud prevention, risk management, expenditure control, Procurement, Treasury management, Effective report writing, Improving security for Banks, credit management and control, Perfecting Securities for Bank Lending to International Finance and Banking operations .

 

Our short training courses on basic banking subjects is suspended in the country for now for obvious reasons.

 

Aside seminars and trainings, we are also into the promotion of some projects that will facilitate trade and investment promotion in the sub-region.
